Bespoke Celtic Diamond Engagement Ring
A unique variation of our Celtic Diamond Engagement Ring
When I originally designed this ring 10 years ago, I did not realise that the bespoke variations would span one of kind creations for customers all over the world. This commission was so special because of the personal story and the larger diamond sparkled like a galaxy. One of the things I love about this process is the way small variations create something entirely different. The small changes allow for a collaborative process with customers to create a design they played a part in creating.
We started with the original Three Diamond Edinburgh Celtic Knot Work Engagement Ring and designed to our customer's exact specifications. The shank profile was made a bit narrower, 3 mm wide with a shallow inside comfy fit, we set a half carat diamond in the center, all the diamonds were selected by our customer. We went with vsi1, this is a super clear, white diamond under the microscope and to the naked eye with a stunning iridescence. On occasions were customers live in the UK, they often come to select their gemstones. Otherwise, we take a video and send it to them via Whats-app or e-mail. I am available to chat and meet throughout the entire process.
Selecting the Diamonds
Our diamond supplier has been trading for 40 years, they are trusted in the industry for their ethical standards and quality. They also offer a wide range of prices for different budgets. We ordered a half carat vsi1 and two 10 pointers with the same specifications. We took a video of the diamonds for our customer for approval.
Bespoke Specifications
Determining size is always a challenge, we generally start with small, medium or large, each is between 3 sizes, then we guess from there, this is surprisingly accurate. Re-sizing, re-making and engraving are all free, which is reassuring for customers.
Our Customer wanted something that suited his partners finger and complimented the matching wedding ring, careful consideration was made in regards to how they would look together.
The Unique Edinburgh Celtic Print and it's Inspiration
Over the years, customers have asked us what is special about the Edinburgh Celtic print I designed on this band. It was designed in Edinburgh, by the sea as I was watching the waves flow, the lines are inspired by the shape of the waves, which flow into 2 entwined lines that circle all the way around the band. My prints are inspired by Scottish themes, this one is inspired by the flowing waves at Granton Harbour in Edinburgh, near where I grew up and now a 5 minute walk from the Tappit Hen Gallery. My idea was to create something truly unique that combined waves and knot work. Waves have a calming effect, I hoped to also incorporate this into the design idea.
The Joy is in the process
In the end, our customer was delighted with the final design. All of our chats over the phone were so much fun, especially the day our customer, who is in the US, was hiding in his bathroom with the dog due to a big storm, it is wonderful to be part of our customers life story.
Our Instagram Bespoke Story Highlights
