Bespoke Trinity Knot Engagement Ring in Rose Gold with Oval Pink Sapphire and Grandmothers Diamonds
Our customer was looking for a Trinity Knot Engagement Ring with some bespoke custom made features. The brief was to design a bespoke ring that incorporated two diamonds from his partners Grandmothers Engagement Ring. The idea was to set them into the trinity knots. Our customer wanted something very similar to our original Trinity Knot Engagement Ring. We started to build the idea inspired by the design, however it evolved into something quite different. It is amazing how a few small changes can create something so different from the original.
Concept and build
Our customer was very keen on pink sapphire for the central gemstone and requested a shallow setting. We ordered a selection of pink sapphires for him to look at, it was no trouble for him to pop in throughout the process and view different materials, as he lives in Edinburgh.
His metal preference was rose gold. We went over all the metals in the Gallery and matched them up with different gemstones. Looking at the different styles of rings and materials can help to visualize and develop the idea with more clarity.
We created some mock up designs for our customer to look at. The design process was slightly longer than normal due to the complexity of the design. A bespoke setting was created for the sapphire. The setting was designed with carved beads, set very flush onto the sapphire, the design and build was similar to a basket setting with V details on the main body of the setting, this allowed for the most amount of light possible to pass through the gemstone. Highlighting the beautiful pink tones was very important to our customer. Comfort was also a consideration; it is quite common for customers to request a setting that is not too raised.
We continued to develop the design over a couple of months. We did spend some time ensuring that the design was as robust as possible, whilst maintaining our customers original vision for the design, which was a delicate flow of trinity knot, with a spray of gemstones.
It fit perfectly, which is always a miracle, due to this being a guess most of the time.
Our customers were over the moon with the final design, it is such an unusual and unique ring. The lovely blend of rose gold with the pink sapphire and diamonds added to the overall design.
